Great daily yoga poses to clear negative energy

Updated: Jul 24, 2021

Have you ever left the yoga studio feeling calm and balanced and then before you realize it, you are bombarded by negative energy? I sometimes feel like saying, "seriously, can we just take a break from all the negativity, I'm so done with this."

Well, you don't have to be in front of your yoga teacher to tap back into positive energy. Let go of the things that you cannot control. Visualize positive energy and remind yourself that with each sensation, you control your experience. Feeling it and clearing it. Empower yourself by coming back to your unwavering commitment to your own truth.

Here are some great poses to add to your daily yoga practice. Remember when you arrive in an asana don't go farther than you should. My yoga teacher would always say, "Never sacrifice the body for the pose." So true!

Easy Pose (Sukhasana)

Amazing asana that allows the body to release negative energy and reduce stress.

In this pose keep your spine in a neutral position and elongated. Weight is evenly balanced on sit bones and your pelvis is in a neutral position. Fold the legs and place feet under the calves or knees. The shoulders are relaxed and shoulder blades are pulled back and down towards the ground. Torso is long ensuring that it does not curve inward. Gaze is straight ahead.

Upward-Facing Dog (Urdhva Mukha Svanasana)

Great asana to awaken the flow of dormant energy. In this pose, keep your pubic bone on the mat while your chest, abdominals and hips stretch. Shoulders are down and away from the ears. Neck is long and avoid dropping back the head. Elbows are under the shoulders but not locked. Hasta bandhas are engaged, to prevent injury of your wrists, by pressing your fingers firmly into the mat and allowing the inner arch of the palm to slightly lift. Your glutes and hamstrings are engaged to allow the hips to stay in extension. Toes are untucked. Gaze is in front or straight ahead. Gentler versions are Cobra and Sphinx pose.
